Business, Community Leaders Are Invited to Experience a Day in DISD Schools
DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District will have local business and community leaders taking over the duties of DISD principals Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Community leaders who will learn and take back information about DISD to the rest of the community are invited to be part of the program. Volunteers are still needed for this unique program which allows citizens to experience what it takes to run a school.
Those interested in participating should contact the District Engagement office and register by Friday, Oct. 22.
The annual event is sponsored by the district's Partners in Education program to help raise awareness and understanding among private sector individuals of the strengths and challenges of public education.
The day's activities may include meetings with the faculty, teaching classes, reading to students or addressing an assembly. While spending a day at school, the "principals for a day" will have an opportunity to learn about the operations of the campus, and are encouraged to share ideas for improvement.
