Emmett J. Conrad High School Exemplifies Civic Leader
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District officials will be joined by neighbors and local elected officials Thursday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at the site of the new Emmett J. Conrad High School, 7502 Fair Oaks Avenue.
The only high school to be built with funds from the 2002 bond program is named after local doctor and civic leader Dr. Emmett J. Conrad. As the first African-American elected citywide to the DISD Board of Trustees, Dr. Conrad served from 1967-77. He went on to serve on the State Board of Education (1984-1992).
Conrad High School will relieve Bryan Adams and Hillcrest high schools. Accompanying zone changes will also relieve Skyline, Woodrow Wilson, W.T. White, and Thomas Jefferson.
Students, principals and the community will join with Trustee Dr. Lois Parrott, Trustee Hollis Brashear and Interim General Superintendent Dr. Larry Groppel to break ground for the new school.
