DISD Students Will Govern The City of Dallas

17 Seniors Were Selected for the City's 'Mayor for a Day' Program

DALLAS– On Monday, November 29, Dallas Independent School District senior Casey Gerald of South Oak Cliff High School will be the Mayor of Dallas as part of the "Mayor for a Day" Program.

As Mayor for a Day, Gerald and 16 other high school seniors taking part in the program will sit with the Mayor Laura Miller for meetings and briefings with the City Council, visits to area businesses and meetings with political leaders.

The program, designed to educate young people about city government, offers an inside view of how the city of Dallas is run.

Ewell Townview Center, January 12; Alyssa Fernandez, School for the Talented and Gifted Magnet High School, January 19; Augustin Tapia, Thomas Jefferson High School, January 26; Courtney Crouch, Lincoln Humanities/Communications Magnet, February 9; Terry Youngblood, James Madison High School, February 16; Edel Trejo, North Dallas High School, February 23; Paul Martinez, Seagoville High School, March 2; Chuck J.
