DISD Names New Division Manager for Food Services

Dora Rivas Begins Her Position January 3

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District has announced that Dora Rivas has accepted the position of Division Manager in Food and Child Nutrition Services effective January 3.

Rivas brings to the district more than 27 years of experience in school food service management, and is currently the Program Administrator for Food Service in the Brownsville Independent School District.

Among her experience, Rivas has served on numerous state and national committees for community, healthcare, school food service, and dietetic programs. She has held the office of President, Texas School Food Service Association, and is currently the Chairperson for Public Policy and Legislation for the American School Food Service Association.

She has contributed articles to several trade magazines including, School Nutrition South of the Border: Encountering a Commitment to Child Nutrition in South America, published in the June/July 2000 issue of School Food Service & Nutrition.

Rivas received a Master of Science degree in Restaurant and Institutional Management from Kansas State University and completed requirements for registered dietitian status with the American Dietetic Association through an internship in Clinical and Administrative Dietetics at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas.
