John Eagle Dealerships to Sponsor Special Edition of Show on WFAA-Channel 8
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District's student-hosted television show, School Zone Dallas, will once again be front and center on WFAA-TV.
Thanks to its continued partnership with John Eagle Dealerships, the show will pre-empt Wheel of Fortune and air on Channel 8 at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
"We are thrilled that John Eagle is once again sponsoring a special edition of School Zone Dallas on WFAA," said Interim Superintendent Larry Groppel. "It allows the viewing public an opportunity to see our outstanding students, teachers and volunteers in action."
WFAA usually airs Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 p.m. on weeknights. When School Zone Dallas aired in that timeslot in September, more than 300,000 viewers watched the show. The January 25 program will feature students from Thomas Jefferson High School as they build a robot for a competition, a 96-year old school volunteer at Martin Luther King Learning Center, the Latin Jazz Ensemble from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and a special member of the marching band at Lincoln High School who inspires other students.
"We have been involved in community projects since our dealerships opened in 1962," said John Eagle, president of John Eagle Dealerships. "None of them, however, have ever been more rewarding than the opportunity to sponsor School Zone Dallas."
School Zone Dallas, produced by Dallas Schools Television won the 2003 Lone Star Emmy Award for Outstanding Informational Program. The magazine-format show highlights outstanding teachers, students, parents and volunteers in the Dallas Independent School District.
This year's cast includes Chase Brown, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; Abe Hernandez, Bryan Adams High School; Cari Abuanza, Thomas Jefferson High School; Edward Bailey, School of Science and Engineering at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center; Saúl Castañeda, Woodrow Wilson High School; Leah Gerchario, Booker T.
