'Families and Schools Working Together' Theme of Seminar

DISD Trustee Hollis Brashear says information will help parents deal with student behavior issues

DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District trustee Hollis Brashear will sponsor an informational seminar on how parents may develop and maintain positive relationships with their children from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 26, at T. W. Browne Middle School, 3333 Sprague Drive.

"I encourage all parents, especially those whose child has a history of being disruptive in class, or whose child has been suspended or placed in alternative school, to attend this seminar," said Brashear. "Emphasis will be placed on making parents aware of positive and effective discipline techniques that may be introduced in the home to promote student success in school and in life."

Prizes to be raffled among participants include are a free laptop or desktop computer, gift certificates to Blockbuster, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and Steak and Ale. Free breakfast will be served.

Workshops include Positive Solutions to Negative Behavior and How Parents and Teachers Work Together to Reduce Bad Behavior.
