The Migrant Education Program Hosts End-of-the-Year Celebration

Dallas Sheriff Lupe Valdez Will Be the Keynote Speaker

DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District's Migrant Education Program will host its end-of-the-year celebration at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 16, at César Chávez Learning Center, 1710 N. Carroll Ave.

The celebration, Si Se Puede or Yes You Can, will have as keynote speaker Dallas Sheriff Lupe Valdez. Valdez is the first female sheriff for Dallas County.

Twenty migrant seniors and 25 four-year-olds who have completed the parent educational program, Building Bridges, will graduate during the celebration.

The Migrant Education Program serves migrant students and their families throughout the district with educational and support services. The program focuses on different areas including early childhood education, graduation enhancement and parental involvement.

Other program participants include DISD Deputy Superintendent Lorenzo Garcia and Gustavo Guzmán, president of the Migrant Education Program's Parent Advisory Committee.
