The new officers will work closely with Dallas Independent School District parents to ensure that they participate more in their children's education and in school activities.

"We will empower parents so they can assist their child, the schools and the teachers to build a team concept," said the new president of the Dallas Council of PTAs, Walter Price.

Price is a professional trainer and motivational speaker who has worked with and trained managers, supervisors, team leaders, parents, teachers and students.

"We also will focus on training and in developing four initiatives to inform the community of the role the PTA has in children's education," said Price.

The four initiatives include educating grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, increasing participation from the Hispanic community in the PTA, exploring solutions to the issues parents have regarding education and organizing a dad's club to promote fathers' involvement and participation in the PTA.
