Students Will Receive Free Immunizations and School Supplies
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District Margaret and Gilbert Herrera Student Intake Center will continue to enroll students for the 2005-2006 school year until August 12.
All students who enroll at the center will receive free school supplies and immunizations.
As part of the district's Multi Language Enrichment Program, the center offers support to immigrant and refugee students new to the country and to those who speak a language other than English.
Since it opened in July 2003, the Intake Center has provided guidance to more than 5,000 students and their parents in adapting to life in the United States. Among the services provided to DISD students are school enrollment, assessment, immunizations, mentoring, tutoring and parent orientations.
The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments should be made for registration. Students who are enrolling in district schools should present proof of residence (utility bill or lease), immunization records, student birth certificate or affidavit (proof of age) and a report card or previous school records.
The center is located at 2617 N. Henderson, behind James Bonham Elementary School. For information, call 972-749-5760.
