Substitutes Can Earn Up To $90 Per Day
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District has almost 300 bilingual substitute teacher positions available.
The goal of hiring more bilingual substitute teachers is to better serve the growing Spanish-speaking or Limited English Proficient student population of the district.
The district's certified bilingual teachers can earn up to $90 daily. Degreed persons can earn $75 daily and those with 60 college hours or more $70.
"With the high number of Hispanic students in DISD, it is imperative that the district hires more bilingual certified teachers,' said Hector Flores, director, Recruitment Department. "The bilingual teachers will not only help meet the instructional needs of the Limited English Proficient students, but will also be able to enhance communication with parents who do not speak English, by assisting them when they are in the schools."
Candidates must be a certified bilingual teacher, have an official college transcript, a copy of a valid Texas or out-of-state teaching certificate, identification with a photograph and a social security card.
To become a substitute bilingual teacher in DISD, where great teachers make a great difference, apply at the district's Human Resources Department, 3807 Ross Ave., between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
