Trustees To Consider A Settlement During Thursday Night Monthly Board Meeting
DALLAS—When Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees meet for their regular monthly meeting Thursday, Aug. 25, they are slated to discuss conditions of a proposed settlement in the district's case involving the Calvary Hill Cemetery, the district announced Friday.
"We will be making a recommendation to the board and asking them for their consideration," said DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "The administration is making this recommendation in order to fulfill the district's obligation to serve the students of the entire district and particularly the elementary and middle school students in the Bachman Lake area of Dallas."
Hinojosa said that the district remains focused on opening two new schools in this area of the city as quickly and cost efficiently as possible.
"After extensive and thoughtful discussion with many local leaders, the district believes that it is in the interest of schoolchildren of Dallas, the district and the city of Dallas to proceed with our bond expansion plan to construct new schools in the most expeditious way. The Board of Trustees will make the final decision about how to proceed at the board meeting Thursday as part of the normal business discussed during the open meeting," Hinojosa said.
The posting for the board meeting Thursday includes a sum of $1.2 million plus court costs and fees.
