DISD Officials Received Announcement Friday
DALLAS-Texas Commissioner of Education Shirley J. Neeley notified district officials Friday that the Dallas Independent School District will be the permanent district and educational institution for the almost 2,700 Wilmer-Hutchins students enrolled in the district in early August.
The senior students were assigned to South Oak Cliff High School while the remaining were placed at 24 other district schools.
"We thank the commissioner for making the decision early enough for DISD to be able to plan for all the issues that will impact our district," said DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "We feel satisfied with the decision made and look forward to including these students in the district's plans for the future."
District enrollment for the 2005 - 2006 school year is currently at 158,992.
