DISD Breaks Ground on New Elementary School

Ceremony Honors Dallas Civic Leader C.A. Tatum Jr.

DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new C.A. Tatum Jr. Elementary School at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at 3002 North St. Augustine Drive.

Students, principals, Tatum family members and the community will join Trustee Nancy Bingham and Superintendent Michael Hinojosa in honoring Tatum, who played a key role in building support for the DISD desegregation effort. Tatum was also a dedicated businessman and civic leader in health, education and youth organizations.

C.A. Tatum Jr. Elementary School will receive students from John W. Runyon, Edward Titche and Annie Webb Blanton elementary schools.
