School Dedication Honors Civic Leader
DALLAS-–Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees President Lois Parrott and Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will join students, parents and school staff in the dedication ceremony of Lee A. McShan Jr. Elementary School, 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at 8307 Meadow Lane.
Located on an 8.2-acre site in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood, the split-level campus was built at a cost of $12 million. Almost 800 students from prekindergarten through sixth-grade attend the school.
Following the program, guests will be invited to enjoy refreshments and tour the school.
Lee A. McShan Jr. (1915-1990) was elected to the DISD Board of Trustees in 1962, serving as its president from 1966 to 1968. During his term, voters approved a major bond program and kindergarten classes were added to schools throughout the DISD.
McShan also was instrumental in developing Skyline High School, Dallas' first magnet school.
