DISD Holds 'Key to Success' College Fair

Will Welcome the Community to the Fair

DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District in partnership with area universities and community organizations, will sponsor the fourth annual 'Keys to Success' college fair Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Southern Methodist University at the Hughes-Trigg Student center.

During the welcoming ceremony at 10 a.m., Jesús Carreón, Dallas County Community College District Chancellor, and Michael Hinojosa, General Superintendent for DISD, will be addressing the community.

With the purpose of encouraging high school students to graduate and attend college, representatives from area colleges and universities, and the community organizations such as the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will share keys to success with students and their families. The event is free and open to students in grades six through 12 and their parents.

During the fair, students and parents will receive information in English and Spanish about college and careers. The students' seminar topics include preparing for the SAT/ACT exams, preparing for college admissions, financial aid and essay writing. The parents' session will include preparing and paying for college.
