Community Leaders and Area Businesses Invited and Encouraged to Participate
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District is inviting area business and community leaders to assume the duties of principals at district schools Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Civic and business leaders who wish to share their knowledge and experience with school staff while learning more about public schools will experience a traditional day in a school.
The annual event is sponsored by the Partners in Education program and is designed to increase awareness and understanding among individuals in the private sector of the strengths and challenges of public schools. Another goal of the program is to form ongoing partnerships of individuals and businesses with DISD.
Principal for a Day participants can expect to spend time with the school's principal, faculty, and students sharing ideas and learning about the day-to-day operations of a public school. The guest principal might also teach a class, meet with the student council, attend student performances, read to students, address a class assembly and participate in a number of other activities.
