25 Oct 2005

James Jones Field Dedication to take Place During Half-time

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District will dedicate James Jones Field at Sprague Complex, 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 28, during the half-time festivities at the Justin F. Kimball vs. South Oak Cliff football game.

"Coach Jones was a very dedicated coach and enjoyed helping students become successful," said Troy Mathieu, assistant superintendent of athletics. "He was very instrumental in Kimball's football program being recognized statewide and nationally as a powerhouse."

Coach Jones began his DISD career in 1974 as a teacher and was Kimball's head football coach and athletic director from 1987 until his death in 2000.

Each year following the David W. Carter-Justin F. Kimball football game, the winner receives the James Jones Memorial Trophy in his honor.
