Academy Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, at Browne Middle School

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District will provide hands-on science labs to parents during an upcoming Parent Academy at T. W. Browne Middle School, 3333 Sprague Drive, Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The science labs will give parents an opportunity to learn more about the experiments that students conduct in class.

The academy is designed to meet the specific needs of parents residing within the Area 5 school community, which feeds into David W. Carter, Justin F. Kimball and Skyline high schools, Middle College, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School and Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center.

The information provided in the academies allows parents to learn more about DISD policies and programs. District representatives will talk to parents about tips on performing better on tests, gang awareness, the importance of attending parent conferences and about resources available to help students pursue a higher education. Beginning computer classes also are offered.

The workshops are offered in English and Spanish. Childcare is provided.

Door prizes will be available for parents at the end of the academy. For more information, call 972-925-3970.
