Students Affected by Hurricane Katrina to Receive $100 Shopping Spree
DALLAS- The Dallas Independent School District, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and Old Navy, will provide a shopping spree for students displaced by Hurricane Katrina from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Old Navy store at the Dallas Galleria, 13350 Dallas Parkway.
"What a great way of giving," said DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "These students have lost virtually every material possession, and to give them something like this will surely lift their spirits."
All elementary, middle and high school students who have enrolled in schools in the district as a result of Hurricane Katrina will be invited to participate in the shopping spree where they can pick out $100 of free merchandise. The Boys and Girls Club in the Greater Dallas area also invited children affected by Katrina who have enrolled in their program.
In addition to shopping, students will enjoy an afternoon of fun complete with Polaroid photos, clowns, balloon animals, music and more.
