Ribbon-Cutting Scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District's Sunset High School will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the addition of a new wing of classrooms at the school, located at 2120 W. Jefferson Blvd. at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19.
The school, which was built in 1925, has been the alma mata for many community leaders such as DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, who will attend the event.
Among the guests is State Representative Roberto Alonzo. Activities include a ribbon-cutting, reception and tours.
The new building is part of the $1.37 billion bond program approved by Dallas' voters in 2002.
The school's 49,000-square-foot addition adds 20 core classrooms, four art classrooms, offices, band hall, practice rooms, storage rooms, dance studio and a drama classroom.
Currently, Sunset High School houses more than 2,000 students. The school principal is Emilio Castro.
