DISD's Athletic Department to Televise Games of the Week

2 Feb 2006

Basketball and football games to be featured

DALLAS-The Dallas Independent School District Athletics Department will begin televising basketball and football "games of the week" in an effort to expand viewing and garner community support for the teams.

"The Dallas ISD game of the week will provide excellent exposure for our schools and student-athletes in the community," said Troy Mathieu, Assistant Superintendent of Athletics. "The quality of basketball and football play in the district is as good as any in the nation at this time, and fans who don't normally get a chance to come to the games, will now have an opportunity to see what they've been missing," he added.

The first basketball game, which is a double-header, is scheduled to air at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, on Channel 9B, on analog cable and on Channel 69, on digital cable. The H. Grady Spruce High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams will be hosting the Lincoln High School girls and boys basketball teams.

All games of the week will be pre-recorded and then aired each Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.
District football games of the week will begin airing in the fall of 2006.

For more information, or a schedule of the games of the week, please contact the Athletics Department at (972) 925-3310.
