Community leaders and school officials join for recognition ceremony
DALLAS–Community leaders, elected officials and students will join Trustee Hollis Brashear and Superintendent Michael Hinojosa to dedicate the Ellis Davis Jr. Field House and Goree Johnson Concourse at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 9191 South Polk Street.
The field house, which is part of the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex, accommodates 7,500 spectators. Uses include volleyball, basketball, wrestling and graduations.
Davis coached basketball at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School for 23 years and accomplished more than 700 career wins. Johnson is a DISD assistant athletic director who coached two state championship basketball teams at Justin F. Kimball High School.
