Parents Can Make Payments Online or By Telephone
and Also Monitor What the Student is Eating
DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District parents will be able to prepay for their child's meals beginning Monday, May 1, through MealpayPlus.com, a software technology that changes the traditional way parents pay and manage their child's school lunch.
MealpayPlus enables parents to make payments online or by telephone. The software allows parents to view their child's balance at any time, as well as check payment history. Payments can be made with a credit card.
DISD will become the first large school district to fully implement the system in Texas.
"This new service is especially helpful for busy parents who will now be able to more conveniently handle their child's lunch money," said Dora Rivas, Food and Child Nutrition Services Division Manager.
MealpayPlus also serves as a tool to fight childhood obesity. By using the history feature and tracking what their child has bought for lunch, the system allows parents and schools to work together to teach the students healthy eating habits. The feature will track students' menu choices for up to 30 days. Parents can access the account and find out what their child has purchased for lunch on a specific day – soda or water, fruit or cookies, vegetables or ice cream, etc.
Parents can find more information about the system at their local school cafeteria, by visiting the Web site www.mealpayplus.com or by calling 1-866-210-0145.
