Top universities in Texas and nation are graduates' choices
DALLAS—The valedictorians and salutatorians of the Dallas Independent School District senior class of 2006 have been selected based on academic achievement.
Most district students have selected Texas institutions of higher learning including the University of Texas and Texas A&M University branches and Southern Methodist University to pursue a college education.
Other graduates have chosen out-of-state universities including Stanford, Cornell, Howard, Wellesley, Vassar, Johns Hopkins and MIT. One senior, Carter High School senior Bridgett Bennett, will enroll at West Point Academy in the fall.
"Graduation is a great milestone for students," said Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "We are extremely proud of this graduating class and have no doubt they will reach great success in the future."
