DALLAS– The Dallas Independent School District will inform parents and students about district programs through Dallas ISD Special: Back to School, a television show which will air in Spanish Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m., on Univision, KUVN 23.
Produced by Dallas Schools Television, the show Dallas ISD Special: Back to School will serve as a tool for parents to learn more about the district's programs and services.
"The show provides an opportunity for the Spanish-speaking audience to learn more about the district and the many services it offers," said Cathy Reaves, executive director, Dallas Schools Television. "The show can help parents understand why it is important to take a more active role in their child's education."
Reaves said, "the school district is very grateful of their partnership with Univision and the support they provide to reach the Hispanic community in Dallas."
The show will include information about the early childhood program, the role of counselors in the students' academic plan and about scholarships and financial aid assistance for high school students. Also, to motivate high school students, the special will feature the story of Enrique Guerrero, a recent Dallas ISD graduate who can attend any university in the country without having to worry about money, thanks to a large amount of scholarships he received for his college career.
