Dallas ISD Starts Parent Academies for 2006-2007

First Academy Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, at Skyline High School

DALLAS–The first in a series of Dallas Independent School District parent academies will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 16, at Skyline High School, 7777 Forney Road.

The initiative offers information to parents so they can enhance their knowledge about the importance of education to succeed in life.

Offered in English and Spanish, the academies provide instructional and general information about the district, its programs and services.

In addition, the academies help parents become familiar with the resources and services available in their neighborhood schools.

Workshops to be offered include overview of district policies and programs, beginning computer classes, tips on performing better on tests, gang awareness, the importance of attending parent conferences and information about resources available to help students pursue a higher education.
