Dallas ISD School Librarians Certification Program Deadlines Announced

Prospective librarians will be able to learn about the Alternative Certification Program

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District is accepting applications for the State Board of Educator Certification approved School Librarian Certification Program.

Alternative Certification information fairs will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Thomas Jefferson High School auditorium; and Dec. 13, Jan. 16, and Feb. 8 at the School Support Service Center, located at 2909 N. Buckner Blvd.

The two-year certification program is fully-funded by the A PLUS grant in conjunction with Texas Woman's University and the Dallas ISD Alternative Certification Department. Selected interns will start the program June 2007 and will seek employment as a district librarian for the 2007-2008 school year.

Admission requirements include: master's degree in any area (or within 12 hours of completion of master's), overall grade point average of a 3.0 (on a 4.0 system), two years successful PreK-12 teaching experience (as official teacher of record), three references (including current supervisor), eligibility for non-degree seeking status at Texas Woman's University, and successful completion of a computer proficiency test. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
