Dallas ISD Schools Receive State Honor Roll Recognition

10 Nov 2006

11 Schools Recognized by Texas Business and Education Coalition

DALLAS—The Texas Business and Education Coalition – Just for Kids Honor Roll program has recognized 11 Dallas Independent School District schools for outstanding academic performance.

The schools made the honor roll by meeting demanding comprehensive performance standards for three consecutive years.

Six years ago, two of the state's leading education reform organizations came together to create the TBEC-Just for the Kids Honor Roll program to identify and recognize public schools in the state of Texas for their high level performance.

"It is always an honor when our schools are recognized for their academic achievement," said General Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "It is also a testimony that when teachers and students work hard, the goal of high achievement can truly be realized."

A total of 271 educational institutions throughout Texas were named Honor Roll Schools this year.

Dallas ISD award recipients are: James B. Bonham Elementary School, Julia C. Frazier Elementary School, Stonewall Jackson Elementary School, Mount Auburn Elementary School, William B. Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Talented and Gifted, Phillis Wheatley Elementary School, the Dallas Environmental Science Academy, Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center's School for the Talented and Gifted, School of Education and Social Services and the School of Science and Engineering.
