Credit Union of Texas Celebrates 75 Years by Donating $7,500

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District will be the recipient of $7,500 that is being donated by the Credit Union of Texas as they celebrate their 75th Anniversary at 11 a.m., Friday, November 17, at the Credit Union of Texas, 4600 Ross Ave.

The donation is being given to the Superintendent's Scholarship Fund as a way of thanking Dallas ISD employees, past and present, for their continued support in helping the Credit Union of Texas grow over the past 75 years.

Joining General Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will be Richard Ensweiler, Credit Union of Texas president and CEO, Ada Williams, chairman, Board of Directors and former Dallas ISD employee, and Board Members Janie Worst, Nancy Couch and Jerry Christian.

In 1931, 13 Dallas teachers founded the Dallas Teachers Credit Union, now the Credit Union of Texas. It was the first teachers' credit union in the state of Texas and initially had assets totaling $65. Today, the Credit Union of Texas has more that 198,000 members who live, work or attend schools in Dallas, Collin, and Rockwall counties and parts of Denton County.

In 2001, the Dallas Teachers Credit Union became the Credit Union of Texas to more accurately reflect its diverse membership base.
