Cans Across Walnut Hill will Benefit Area Families at Thanksgiving
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District's Walnut Hill Elementary School has collected more that 2,300 cans of food during their annual Cans Across Walnut Hill food drive held November 6-15.
"Cans Across Walnut Hill is a tradition that has been in place for about 20 years," said Principal Brian Lusk. "It provides our students with an opportunity to give to the community. By doing so, they can reflect on how fortunate they are, and it gives them a better appreciation of their lives," he said.
Walnut Hill's canned food drive benefits the North Texas Food Bank. The food that is collected will be distributed for Thanksgiving to area families who are in need.
The school usually collects more than 1,000 cans of food each year.
