Dallas ISD Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy At Special Event

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District's annual celebration to honor Martin Luther King Jr. is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, January 4, at Emmett J. Conrad High School, 7502 Fair Oaks Ave.

The district honors King with an annual celebration to commemorate his timeless vision of building a more just and peaceful world. The celebration will feature performances by Dallas ISD's Lincoln High School Maurine F. Bailey Concert Choir, the Elementary All-City Honor Choir, and the Handbell Choir of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Rickie G. Rush, senior pastor of Inspiring Body of Christ Church.

Dallas ISD schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2006, in observance of the national holiday honoring Dr. King. The national theme for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observance is In The Spirit of Unity and Service - Remember! Celebrate! Act!
