Dallas ISD To Introduce National Letter Of Intent College Signees, February 7

22 Jan 2007

Event Is Open to the Public

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District Department of Athletics has scheduled its annual "Meet the Signees" media event on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Noon, at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 South Polk Street

The event's goal is to recognize and introduce all Dallas ISD senior student athletes who have signed college scholarships (including football, soccer, volleyball and basketball early period signees) for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. It is anticipated that many of the school district's 21 high schools which field athletic programs will have athletes represented at the event.

"The National Letter of Intent Signing Day is a significant day for so many of our student athletes and their families," said Jeff Johnson, Assistant Superintendent of Athletics. "These athletes have worked so hard both academically and athletically in preparing for this day, that we wanted to make sure they were properly recognized for their accomplishments," Johnson added. "It is our belief that athletics can play a major role in graduating students ready for college."

The signing day event, which began in 1999, is open to the public.
