16 Feb 2007

Seniors can seek on-site admission at the event to an area college or university

DALLAS– The Dallas Independent School District, along with the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and several universities, will host the fifth annual "Keys to Success" college fair Saturday, Feb. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the University of Texas at Dallas, 800 W. Campbell Road.

Seniors can seek on-site admission at the event to an area college or university if they bring the following documents: a copy of their parents' 2006 income tax return, a copy of their high school transcript, and a copy of their college admissions essay (if required by the institution they plan to attend).

The event is free and open to students in grades 11 and 12 and to their parents, with the purpose of encouraging them to graduate and attend college. Representatives from area colleges and universities, and the community organizations will share keys to academic success with students and their families.

All information will be provided in English and Spanish. College representatives will be available to help students and their parents with admission applications, financial assistance, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and will provide preparation tips for college required tests.
