Dallas ISD Receives Check From $70,000 From Washington Mutual

23 Mar 2007

Grant Will Fund The New Teacher Academy

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District received a check for $70,000 from Washington Mutual at the school board meeting Thursday, March 22, at W.H. Adamson High School, 201 East Ninth Street.

For four consecutive years, Washington Mutual has funded the New Teacher Academy, as well as the Principals Learning Institute, over the summer.

Last year, more than 1,000 teachers attended the New Teacher Academy and on the same day, all 225 school principals attended their summer training at CityPlace.

The $70,000 grant, which is for the 2007-2008 school year, brings Washington Mutual's total donations to Dallas ISD over the last four years to more that $300,000.

Washington Mutual's Vice President of Corporate Giving and External Affairs, Joni Baird, and Dallas Vice President of Community Affairs Relationship Manager, Maria E. Gonzales, presented the check to General Superintendent Michael Hinojosa.
