Event recognizes their contributions to education
DALLAS—Outstanding trailblazers in the field of education will be inducted into the African American Hall of Fame at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the New Birth Baptist Church, 444 West Ledbetter Drive.
The event recognizes notable individuals who have made significant systemic contributions to the education of African Americans in Dallas County. The African American Hall of Fame is sponsored by the African Archives and History Program, and is a collaboration of the Dallas Regional, National Alliance of Black School Educators and the African American Museum.

The dedication of renowned educator Norman Washington Harllee will be recognized with a special Pioneer/Trailblazer award.
The Practicing Educators Award will be presented to Larry D. Lewis, Shirley Ison-Newsome, Rachel George and Kamalia Cotton. Johnnie Jackson is the recipient of the Thelma Page Richardson Risk-Taker Award
Former Dallas ISD Superintendent Marvin Edwards, 2006 inductee, will be recognized at this year's event since he was unable to attend last year's reception.
