59 Seniors Will Receive Scholarships
DALLAS–Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will award 59 seniors $2,000 each in scholarships at a reception to be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at SMU's Hughes-Trigg Student Center, 3140 Dyer Street.
Two graduating seniors from each Dallas ISD high school will be presented scholarships. The scholarships are given in recognition of outstanding community service, academic achievement and good character, and will provide financial support for a college education.
The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Superintendent's Scholarship Golf Classic.
Also, the first Joe May Scholarship Award will be presented to the top student among the 59 seniors. The winner will receive an additional $1,000. A scholarship named after Superintendent Michael Hinojosa's father, The Rev. Amado S. Hinojosa Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, also will be presented.
