Dallas ISD, City of Dallas Join Efforts to Call Attention to Safe Driving

SafeLight Campaign Hopes to Reduce Number of Accidents Due to Drivers Running Red Lights


What:              NASCAR Driver David Starr will bring his racing skills and his message "On the racetrack I burn
                        rubber—on the road I stop on Red!" to the City of Dallas to help launch an educational campaign
                        aimed at young drivers. The top ranked NASCAR Craftsman Series competitor will race his show
                        car east on Marilla Street onto City Hall Plaza. He will then join city officials and Dallas ISD students
                        who will sign pledges to STOP for red lights and encourage their families and friends to do the same.
                        Students will also receive an autographed David Starr poster with his show car and other educational
                        materials.

Note:              Dallas now has more than 45 cameras installed in various locations around the city; 60 are expected
                        to be operational by the end of May. City officials will be available to discuss the SafeLight Campaign
                        to increase public safety and reduce the number of drivers running red lights. David Starr will also be
                        available to discuss his involvement in the SafeLight program.
