Winner Will Be Announced During May 29 Luncheon
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District 2007 – 2008 Principal of the Year will be announced during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, at the Adam's Mark Hotel, 400 Olive St.
The program will include remarks by the Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa, Board President Jack Lowe, current Principal of the Year Gayla Burgess and the emcee will be Dr. Steve Flores, deputy superintendent – School Support Services Division.
The Principal of the Year program, sponsored by AXA Advisors, provides an opportunity for the district to honor outstanding campus leaders. A nine-member selection committee comprised of former principals of the year, teachers, central administration representatives and community members reviews nomination packages. Nominees are considered in the areas of leadership skills, management effectiveness, community relations and parent involvement skills.
The finalists are Larry Allen, Alex Sanger Elementary School; Lisa DeVeaux, Edna Rowe Elementary School; Yolanda Gonzalez, William Lipscomb Elementary School; Anita Hardwick, Harry C. Withers Elementary School; and Leslie Williams, Skyline High School and Career Development Center.
The winner will receive $3,000, and the finalists $250 each.
