Top universities in Texas and nation are graduates’ choices
DALLAS—The valedictorians and salutatorians of the Dallas Independent School District senior class of 2007 have been selected based on academic achievement.
Most class valedictorians and salutatorians have chosen to attend Texas institutions of higher learning, with The University of Texas and Texas A&M University and their branches among the top choices. Texas Woman’s University also was a favorite among the students. Out-of-state choices include Ivy League campuses such as Princeton, Cornell and Yale. Engineering, pre-medicine and business appear to be the students’ most popular career fields.
"We are extremely proud of this graduating class and have no doubt they will reach great success in the future," said Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "Our goal to become the top-performing urban school district in the nation will be greatly measured by the number of students who graduate from district schools college and workforce ready."
