J.L. Long Middle School Hosts Ribbon-Cutting For New Wing

Ceremony Scheduled for Friday

DALLAS–Dallas ISD officials and community leaders will gather for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new wing for J. L. Long Middle School, 6116 Reiger Ave., at 2 p.m., Friday, September 7.

The addition of about 24,000 square feet features 16 new classrooms, new support spaces and additional restrooms.

John Lawson Long, the school's namesake, was Superintendent of Dallas Schools at the turn of the 20th century. Long made many contributions to the Dallas educational system and helped lay the foundation of the school district.

The program participants include Trustee – District 9, Ron Price, and a member of the Long family.

The J.L. Long Ballet Folklorico will perform under the direction of Gayle Armstrong.
