State Educators Tour Dallas ISD's Early College High School

26 Sep 2007

Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa Will Lead the Tour on Sept. 28

DALLAS–Dallas Independent School District Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa will lead dozens of educators from the state of Texas on a tour of Early College High School at Mountain View College on Friday, September 28, at 10 a.m.

Educators touring the unique school will have the opportunity to learn more about this school option for students.

The Early College High School is one of only two college high schools in North Texas. The program not only prepares students for college, but immerses them in college-level classes and college culture. Graduates of the ECHS at Mountain View College will leave high school with a diploma and either an associate's degree or transfer hours toward the four-year University of their choosing.

In its second year of operation, Mountain View ECHS is seeing early indicators of success, including a 97 percent average daily attendance rate among its 210 students, who earned from three to 22 hours of college credit in their freshman year alone.

The tour will be held on the opening day of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA)/Texas Association of School Board Members annual conference to be held at the Dallas Convention Center.

Mountain View College is located at 4849 W. Illinois Drive. The tour will begin in room W-38.
