A Dinner Honoring 15 Schools will be hosted by Texas Business and Education Coalition, Oct. 22
DALLAS—The Texas Business and Education Coalition – Just for the Kids Honor Roll program has recognized 15 Dallas Independent School District schools for outstanding academic performance.
The schools made the 2007 honor roll by meeting demanding comprehensive performance standards for three consecutive years.
In 2000, two of the state's leading education reform organizations came together to create the TBEC-Just for the Kids Honor Roll program to identify and recognize public schools in the state of Texas for their high level performance.
"I think that the increase from 11 schools to 15 this year is very significant," said Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "This is another step toward becoming the top urban school district by 2010. It is also a testimony that when teachers and students work hard, the goal of high achievement can truly be realized."
The Texas Business and Education Coalition will host its Eighth Annual Honor Roll Schools Celebration and Dinner on October 22, 2007, at the Austin Hilton Hotel. This year's event will include a half-day of seminars for attendees followed by a reception at 6 p.m. and the awards dinner at 7 p.m.
A total of 385 educational institutions throughout Texas were named Honor Roll Schools this year.
