Dallas ISD Schools Receive Another National Ranking

3 Dec 2007

Latest ranking listed by U.S. News and World Report magazine

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District's School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center and School for Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center have been named the number 14th and 18th schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report news magazine.

"This is additional validation that the TAG and Science and Engineering Magnets at Townview are exceptional schools," said Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "The schools' leadership, their teachers and the students truly deserve the credit."

"The challenge, of course, is to get all Dallas schools performing at the same high level as these two crown jewels and we are committed to make that happen."

These two Dallas ISD schools also have fared well in other rankings this year. The current issue of Texas Monthly names the state's best schools. It ranks both TAG and the science magnet, among the top 25 but didn't assign a number.

And last May, Newsweek named TAG the nation's best public school, with the science magnet a close second.
