1 Feb 2008

"Meet the Signees" Media Event to be held Wednesday, February 6

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District Department of Athletics has scheduled its annual "Meet the Signees" media event at noon on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 South Polk Street.

"The National Letter of Intent Signing Day is a significant day for so many of our student athletes and their families," said Jeff Johnson, athletic director. "These athletes have worked so hard both academically and athletically in preparing for this day, that we wanted to make sure they were properly recognized for their accomplishments," Johnson added. "It is our belief that athletics can play a major role in graduating students ready for college."

The event will recognize and introduce all Dallas ISD senior student athletes who have signed college scholarships including football, soccer, volleyball and basketball for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year. Many of the school district's 21 high schools which field athletic programs will have athletes represented at the event.

The signing day event, which began in 1999, is open to the public.
