Celebration to be held at 3 p.m., Monday
DALLAS–Students from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts will return to the school's original campus following a $55 million renovation and expansion on Monday, April 21, 2008.
Members of the senior class will hold a special "Welcome Home" celebration in the school's Green Room, an outside amphitheater encircled by much of the campus, beginning at 3 p.m.
Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa, school principal Ruth Woodward and I.D. (Nash) Flores III, chairman of the Arts Magnet Building Campaign, along with Mike Birrer, President of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Advisory Board, will be in attendance and available for interviews following the performance.
A limited number of parking spaces may be available behind the school off the access road from Woodall Rogers.
Because of the unique circumstances surrounding the move to the campus during the middle of the school year and the additional construction in the Arts District, we respectfully request the media please stay off the campus until the 3 p.m. event. Our goal is to ensure that teachers, staff and students have as close to a regular school day as possible.
