60 Seniors Will Receive Scholarships

DALLAS–Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will award 60 seniors $2,000 each in scholarships at a reception to be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at SMU's Hughes-Trigg Student Center, 3140 Dyer Street.

Two graduating seniors from each Dallas ISD high school will be presented scholarships. The scholarships are given in recognition of outstanding community service, academic achievement and good character, and will provide financial support for a college education.

The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Superintendent's Scholarship Golf Classic.

In addition, among the 60 seniors, two of the top students will each receive an additional scholarship from the following: the second annual Joe May Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,000 will be presented to the top student among the 60 seniors. Also, for the second year, a $1,000 scholarship named after Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa's father, The Rev. Amado S. Hinojosa, will be presented.
