Free Lunch and Snacks Will be Provided to Dallas Youth at Various Locations,
From June 9 Through August 8
DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District's Food and Child Nutrition Services Department, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the Texas Department of Agriculture will kick off the 2008 Summer Food Services Program in Dallas at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12, at the YMCA – Moorland Branch, 907 E. Ledbetter Road.
The Summer Food Services Program, which will run from June 9 through August 8, with the exception of July 4, will ensure that Dallas' youth will not go without proper nutrition during the summer months. The program will provide free lunch and snacks to Dallas children and youth, ages one through 18, at any of the more than 135 sites throughout the city.

The campaign will also encourage Dallas' children and youth to engage in physical activities and healthy eating habits during the summer.
Bill Ludwing, USDA Food and Nutrition Services Southwest Regional Administrator; Todd Staples, Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner; and Deborah Owens, Director, Dallas ISD's Training and Quality Assurance–Food and Child Nutrition Services Department, will be present during the kickoff.
