John Eagle Dealerships to Sponsor Three Special Editions of School Zone Dallas on WFAA-Channel 8
DALLAS—The 2008-2009 school year introduces a new cast for the student-hosted television show, School Zone Dallas. In its seventh season, School Zone Dallas focuses on the good news and outstanding people who are part of the Dallas Independent School District.
The Lone Star Emmy award-winning TV show will air three times this school year on WFAA-Channel 8, at 6:30 p.m., courtesy of John Eagle Dealerships. The season's first show will air Wednesday, September 3. Additional programs will air January 21, 2009 and April 15, 2009. The show will air in place of Entertainment Tonight.
Hosted from the Maria Luna Food Service Facility, School Zone Dallas will feature stories about last spring's performance of "The Sound of Music" at Woodrow Wilson High School and 48 sixth graders from the W. B. Travis Talented and Gifted Academy who had the opportunity to attend a Russian language camp this summer in Minnesota.
Other stories include parents from Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School who volunteered their time to work on a project to beautify the school; and a feature on the keynote speaker at the Believe/Achieve Back-to-School Kickoff, Dalton Sherman, a fifth grader at Charles Rice Learning Center.
This year's cast includes co-hosts Niesha Smith, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; and Flaviano Graciano, W. T. White High School. Reporters on the program are Laura Cardona, W. H. Adamson High School; Stephanie Aguilera, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School; Olivia Fragoso, Magnet Center for Public Service: Government, Law and Law Enforcement at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center; Lorena Watson, David W. Carter High School; Bryce Romney, Woodrow Wilson High School; and Desmond Richardson, Humanities/Communications Magnet at Lincoln High School.
