Biometric Fingerprinting Demonstration will be held at 2 p.m.
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District Chief Human Development Officer Kimberly D. Olson will demonstrate the Biometric Fingerprinting process at 2 p.m., Friday, September 5, at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, 1201 E. Eighth Street.
Olson will be the first executive level administrator to be fingerprinted in Dallas ISD.
Senate Bill 9, also known as the "Fingerprinting Bill", was signed into law during the previous legislative session and affects certified employees in all Texas public school districts and charter schools. As such, the district is required to cooperate with the Texas Education Agency in their efforts to fingerprint certified educators in order to conduct a national criminal history record information review. Any employee who has a certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) will need to be fingerprinted, regardless of his/her position in the district.
Starting Friday, September 5, employees at each campus will begin being fingerprinted to comply with the new law. Although the state has mandated that all certified educators be fingerprinted, the district will eventually fingerprint all employees.
