A Dinner Honoring 18 Schools will be hosted by Texas Business and Education Coalition, Nov. 10
DALLAS—The Texas Business and Education Coalition – Just for the Kids Honor Roll program has recognized 18 Dallas Independent School District schools for outstanding academic performance.
The schools made the 2008 honor roll by meeting demanding comprehensive performance standards for three consecutive years.
In 2000, two of the state's leading education reform organizations came together to create the TBEC-Just for the Kids Honor Roll program to identify and recognize public schools in the state of Texas for their high level performance.
"Last year the increase was from 11 to 15 and this year it's 15 schools to 18. This is very significant," said Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa. "This is a direct indication of the district's focus on academic achievement and yet another step toward becoming the top urban school district by 2010. We are very pleased of the hard work from our teachers and students."
The Texas Business and Education Coalition will host its Ninth Annual Honor Roll Schools Celebration and Dinner on November 10, 2008, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio. This year's event will include a half-day of seminars for attendees followed by a reception at 6 p.m. and the awards dinner at 7 p.m.
